The 3rd boxed variety
of Creepy Crawlers, I call the "Play Maker Pak". Dated 1968. I
compare it to a Play Pak, if one existed for Creepy Crawlers, the only
difference is that this variety also includes an oven. The box is smaller &
flatter then the regular Creepy Crawlers Thingmaker, and there are fewer bugs
pictured on the box top. The inside is also plastic, as opposed to Styrofoam.
There are only 5 molds in this set. The bugs that you can make with the
included molds, are pictured on the box top. The other bugs were actually
removed off the box top, and duplicates of the bugs that were included were
painted on. Why did they do that?

Notice the insects with wings were
taken off the cover art, but the mold was included. I think that might be the
only "partial" mistake. I say partially, because the other bugs are
accurate, and notice the dragonfly without wings is still on the table next to
the oven. They even took the butterfly away from the girl, and made her holding
a horned toad or lizard instead. Another weird thing, they included 3 small
bottles of goop, and one larger one. Although, with my set, I got a bug bottle
of green, instead of the pictured black "teardrop" bottle.
Another interesting note: The
stock number is also different from the regular Creepy Crawlers set. It became
stock # 4578
The five molds that were included.
Notice they are the Variety 2 molds.
Numbers: 4477-052, 053, 055, 058
& 059
