Toymax's latest mold line: Mutant Squad. The creatures look very disturbing, but cool. You get to make weird creepy "action figures" with bendable wire in their arms and legs. Very nicely designed molds, and a great idea. Unfortunately, you don't get to make all the pieces. The hands, feet, head, inner body, wings and weapons are pre-made plastic. Major drawback. They did the same thing with the "House of Horros" Monster series of molds, where you make everything but the head. This limits the replay value, because unless you order more heads from Toymax, you can't make any more monsters. The same goes for this mold line. Hopefully they'll sell these parts also.
What you actually get to mold is the backing of the torso and abdomen, and also the arms and legs. They even recommend using Plasti-Steel goop for some parts of the arms and legs, to make the parts that don't need to bend more sturdy. It would be nice if Plasti-Steel was still available. I've found some at Walmart recently, but was probably just old stock. The Mutants are very neat looking, so they should still be fun sets to add to your collection. The boxes are very nicely done and colorful. I'll put a scan up of a Mutant after I make one. So far I've only seen 3 sets, but the box back shows 6 different Mutants, so we'll probably be seeing more shortly.

Here's the 3 that are out now: "Frakcha", "Soul Stealah" and "Wormchow". The boxes show the 3 different heads, stuck on the same body. When in actuality, the bodies are different styles and colors also.
Here's the back of the box, which shows all 6 different Mutants. (Click on the picture to zoom)
Here's all the body parts and weapons that come with a mold pak, that you don't get to mold. They are different colors depending on which Mutant you get. Also, the weapons are different per Mutant, and very wicked looking. Sure would have been nice to be able to mold everything though, especially the head. That is the only drawback of the Mutant series in my opinion. It would be cool if they came out with a single separate mold pack that would let you make these common parts, and all the weapons. That would be ideal, but highly unlikely.
Here's my first attempt at making a Mutant: Wormchow. Gruesome, huh?
