Toymax's Strange Change Machine. This short lived set was available only in limited areas.

Like the original Mattel set, you heat plastic cubes which expand into creatures. Then crush them back into cubes! Again and again.

Here’s the oven, tongs, and instruction booklet. The booklet has some neat artwork of a skeleton being expanded from a cube. I used that as the background for this page.

Creaures

My favorite is the skeleton. They are all nicely detailed. Also in the picture are my two feeble attempts at crushing them back into nice squares.

Notes

· There’s 6 different creatures, and you get at least 2 of each.

· Unlike Mattel’s creatures which came in one of four colors, all Toymax’s creatures are clear and they glow in the dark.
